OÜ Varumees - deployment of qualified harbour-labour.



Private limted company Varumees began its activities as a Transiidikeskuse Ltd subsidiary in October, 1999. The main activity is the mediation of qualified harbour labor.

Varumees assists harbour companies to solve staff-problems caused by irregular workload. Our staff performs loading and discharging services for the customer in harbour-terminals and also in warehouses. Varumees' permanent staff consists of 30 qualified dock-engineers and of 400 reserve employees ranging from highly qualified dock-engineers to transport workers.

Experienced specialists verify that the qualifications of the labour force are in accordance with the requirements, that employees are familiar with work-safety issues. Employee training is arranged in cooperation with Refetra Ltd Training Centre, which is licenced by the Department of Education and has a long-term experience in training skilled harbour laborforce.

Increasing the amount of employees is not a problem for Varumees, even when it would require organizing additional training courses.

Private limited company Varumees offers harbour labour for loading and discharging in the contracting company:
  • with required qualification;
  • in required numbers;
  • at the appointed time;

We enable the Customer:
  • to harness effectively additional manpower when the workload is increased;
  • to eliminate the trouble of finding qualified extra workers and the problems with the irregular compensation;
  • with long-term contracts to reduce the number of permanent work-force and thus reduce the salary expenses of dockers or even avoid it completely.

Varumees is obliged:
  • to comply with the methods stated in the Customer's technological certificates;
  • to respond to the customer's orders and prescriptions;
  • after finishing the current service to tidy up the working site and to return all equipment and rigging;
  • to compensate any material losses to the Customer caused by faults in its action or lack of action;
  • to follow regulations of working- and fire-safety effective in the Customer's company.

Varumees appoints a project-supervisor, whose task is to organize the the activities of the workers, ensure the quality of service and act as a contact-person for urgent matters between the client and the contractor.

The rates are negotiated taking into account the salary levels on the labour market, the taxes set in legislation and the company's expenses on the production management.
