Estonian transit company developed TISK, a technological solution unique in the world

05.05.2009
The new stevedore information system TISK (Transit Info System Keeping) is a universal electronic solution 100% based on Estonian technology, which was developed at the biggest Estonian transit company Transiidikeskuse AS and introduced in April at the international exhibition TransRussia 2009 in Moscow.

The TISK system caused a lot of interest in Moscow and was called the "dream of each stevedore". It is a complete information system for a stevedore company, which enables to electronically manage the whole cycle of the movement of goods starting from the arrival of the vessel at the harbour until receipt of the money for the services provided. Thousands of different loading systems are used in multifunctional terminals, e.g. there are 2.5 thousand confirmed technological schemes in the database of Refetra, a stevedore company operating in Estonia. We can compare this with container terminals where only around twenty technological schemes are used. TISK is able to find an optimum solution for the performance of the loading works at the maximum speed and at the lowest cost price. "No integral solution that controls the whole production process of a multifunctional stevedore company had been created in the world yet," declared Erik Laidvee, chairman of the board of Transiidikeskuse AS and one of the authors of the idea of the TISK. "Up to now all companies used expensive single programs incompatible with each other. Our system is an open one; it can be quickly introduced in all the stevedore companies of the world." Laidvee stated that the interest in the innovative technological solution in the development of which even the best specialists of the Estonian IT sector were involved in addition to the transit specialists was extremely big at the Moscow international logistics exhibition TransRussia 2009. Transiidikeskuse AS has patented the product and all the rights of the trademark are protected. According to Laidvee, active placing on the market of this product that promises to become the "transit-Skype" based on the opinion of technical specialists will start this autumn.
